Secretary Raimondo and Deputy Secretary Graves Honor Denim Day

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) and there are a myriad of ways to demonstrate your support for safe and healthy environments free of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other harmful behaviors. One way is to participate in Denim Day.

Denim Day is a long-running internationally recognized grassroots sexual violence awareness and education campaign. It calls for participants to wear jeans on this day as a sign that they reject victim-blaming and misconceptions that surround sexual violence.

Sexual violence can happen to anyone, regardless of gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, age, race, or ethnicity. Challenging misconceptions surrounding sexual violence remains an important effort in combating these incidents.

We are proud to wear denim today to demonstrate our continued commitment to supporting those who have experienced sexual violence. Our ultimate goal remains the prevention of these harmful behaviors from ever occurring. Every employee contributes to the Department’s culture, just as everyone has a role in prevention.

We ask that you join us and countless others across the world by wearing denim today as an outward sign that you reject sexual assault and sexual harassment.
